Creating an online 'book' of tutorials - need help

Fri Jan 19, 2007, 2:35 AM
I want to set up an online book of tutorials for TRADITIONAL - almost photo realistic drawing.

If you search for drawing tutorials the first 5 pages of the search results are for digital drawing! -_-

Now conversations about traditional work dying out and digital being more popular are on 99% of art websites. 13 and 14 year olds are more familiar with tablets than graphite and i think its quite sad. (Dont get me wrong i have nothing against digital art).
Another problem with the few tutorial sites there are is that they are vague, dont have many illustations and are too dated for any one young to be interested in using them.

So, i thought about putting together a website (if i cant find a free one then ill probs link it up to my official one) to give good detailed illustrated tutorials for people to follow.
To make it more appealing i thought about having stuff like
'a step by step guide to drawing jack sparrow'

Base the tutorials on popular actors, characters & musicians to make it more interesting.

BUT as well as having the 'celebs' there'll be general tutorials on drawing eyes, the clothed figure, anatomy, noses ect. The general kind of tutorials you get in books that you usually have to pay quite a bit for.

There will also be a message board so people can ask for specific advice from more advanced artists and I shall probs set up a space for it too!

This is totally a non-profit thing i just need people who are willing to stick by it and take time to put tutorials up for people to follow.

Now If anyone is willing to do step-by steps im more than happy to put the scans into animation shop so the drawing builds up from start to finish. Im going to do as much as i can for pencil, charcoal work and promotion but its something i cant do on my own. (especially because my skills arent that great)
So i need people who like the idea of this project and are willing to spend time on it and to help out others who want to improve their skills or just start drawing from scratch.

If you're interested in being involved or your an artist who would like some tutorials that are easy to follow then please leave a comment, let me know. :)

Thats all for now,

xHx

hey! i would love to read them if your going ahead with this! I think its a great idea. Yeah, most tutorials on the net are how to use computer programs for drawing and how to draw.....anime and such styles of drawing! It'd be great to show us how you draw, i think! especially shading. Im really really bad at that!!!!!
:D Goodluck!

sorry to parrot back what you're asking for, but how about *books*??? There's plenty out there lol.
:iconfunkychickette:
Indeed there are.
But the point of this little project is so people dont have to go out and buy books. I have quite a few but i get people asking for advice on shading ect and when searching the internet you dont really get many tutorials on drawings thats have a photo-realistic quality to them.

You dont get many people willing to give adivce either.
Which is understandable. My drawings are far from perfect yet i have messages in my inbox everyday with questions on drawing and it is very annoying having to repeat myself all the time.

Hell yeah! James Bourne thinks im talented - how awesome :w00t:

Doing commissions for £12 and £6! :)

Ah, I get your point now :)
:iconfunkychickette:
Indeed.
Plus i dont have to keep repeating myself to people who are learning to draw everyday of the week lol.

There are a few people who have been kind enough to help me with my shading and give advice and i just want to return the favour.
